Cab driver points police to suspected bank robber

By WLOX Staff

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - The man accused of robbing the Hancock Bank off Highway 90 in Pascagoula Monday is under arrest. Police arrested Thomas "Andy" Wade in Harrison County after receiving a tip from a taxi driver in New Orleans.

The cab driver picked Wade up in New Orleans and was driving him toward Mississippi. The driver said Wade had him stop near the state line. Wade then jumped out of the cab and into a Honda Accord. But he left behind a checkbook, that police say was taken in a recent burglary.

The driver alerted the authorities and Harrison County board of supervisors patrol officer Bobby Payne Jr. arrested the suspect on Highway 49 near Saucier.

Wade is being held at the Pascagoula Jail.
