GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A coast car dealership is marking a special anniversary this year. Butch Oustalet Ford/Lincoln/Mercury has now been in Gulfport for 50 years.

Owner Butch Oustalet remembers when his late father, Bubba, brought the car dealership to downtown Gulfport in 1959.

"He opened the Ford dealership with great hope and desire for the Mississippi Gulf Coast," Oustalet said.

"My great-grandfather started in the car business. Actually, he started building wagons back before there were cars. Then my grandfather was in the car business. As far as I can remember, I was always around cars."

It has been nearly four decades since Butch first began his career in the auto industry. He said the changes he's seen are incredible.

"Nowadays, everything is run by computer. If the computer goes out, you have to have a computer to fix computers," he said.

As the business continues to evolve, Butch said the trend is toward smaller, more fuel efficient cars and trucks.

And while the ever changing business is something he's always enjoyed, Oustalet said there's one thing that will never change - the Oustalet family and the company's commitment to community service.

Butch calls his late dad the most giving person he ever met, who taught his ten children about the value of community service.

Butch Oustalet and his business partner, Larry Clark, have been giving of their time to the Coast community for decades now. Oustalet emphasizes, that commitment will never waver.
