Two sentenced on Katrina fraud charges

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Two people have been ordered to repay ten of thousands of dollars in Katrina aid they falsely received.

Clinton Bourgeois of Biloxi and Long Beach will serve 18 months in federal prison for filing a false claim for FEMA disaster assistance. According to federal court documents, Bourgeois claimed a Biloxi property as his primary residence to receive more than $10,000 in FEMA money.

Bourgeois will have to repay that $10,397, serve three years probation and 60 hours of community service.

An Arkansas woman must repay more than $20,000 to FEMA and the American Red Cross for disaster money she fraudulently received. Melissa McMorris of Pine Bluff, Arkansas will spend four months electronically monitored in home confinement, serve three years supervised release and do 70 hours of community service
