Tomorrow WLOX will join other television stations across the country and make what we call the "Big Switch." We will be turning off our analog transmitter early Friday morning. We will continue to broadcast our digital signal.
Most of you will probably not notice anything. Especially if you receive our signal via one of the local cable companies. However, if you receive us over the air then you will need to rescan your television set. It is a simple procedure and you probably had to do so when you first set up your television set.
Remember your secondary sets you may have in the kitchen or bedroom. If they are not hooked to cable they will also have to be rescanned. In addition some of you who have in the past been able to receive us by using rabbit ears may have to purchase a better antenna. Many of the local electronic stores have a variety of antennas. But make sure you purchase one that picks up a VHF signal.
Also to help those who might have a question WLOX is setting up a phone bank this evening and Friday morning. Our staff will attempt to help you if you encounter any problems. We do have a great deal more information about the "Big Switch" on our web site at WLOX.com.
Our goal in this transition is to make sure that we do not lose any of you as our viewers. We want you to be able to watch our news and informational programs. We appreciate you letting us be your station for South Mississippi.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to email@example.com, or post your comments below.
