Expected rain changes Memorial weekend events

By WLOX Staff

COASTWIDE, MS (WLOX) - Because of the rain expected this weekend, some memorial weekend events have been re-scheduled. Others will go on as scheduled, but move indoors.

Saturday, there's a Veterans Memorial Service in Hancock County at 11am on the grounds of the Diamondhead Country Club. The scheduled flyover may be canceled, but the ceremony will go on.

If it's raining at 11am Saturday, the memorial service will move inside the Diamondhead Country Club.

The pile-driving ceremony to launch the $17 million reconstruction project of Gulfport's Small Craft Harbor has been delayed until Monday at 5pm.

The Sounds by the Sea Concert in Gulfport will follow afterwards. Seating will begin at 6pm, with the concert set to begin by 7pm. CTA is offering free shuttle service from the garage across from the federal courthouse to Jones Park.

Pascagoula's Sounds by the Sea Concert is still set for Sunday, but the event is being moved from Beach Park to the Civic Center on Shortcut Road.
