Assaulted toddler will not go back to family

By WLOX Staff

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - The 18-month-old Ocean Springs girl who authorities believe was sexually assaulted by her father will not go back to her family. That's the word from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Earlier this month, James Hill, Jr., 20, was arrested and charged with sexual assault. His parents, James Hill, Sr., 38, and Pamela Hill, 36, as well as the child's mother, Tasha Hill, 18, were all charged with felony child abuse. Investigators say the family members all lived in the same house, and knew of the assault.

James Hill, Jr. was released from jail Friday on a $25,000 bond. Tasha Hill was also released last week on a $10,000 bond. Hill's parents bonded out the day after their arrest.

Investigators tell WLOX News the child is still in protective custody and that several requests by her family to re-gain custody have been, and will be, denied.
