BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - A Bay St. Louis woman says she received a rude awakening Sunday morning after a police car crashed into her home.
The accident happened shortly before 8 a.m. at the corner of Dunbar Avenue and Corinth Drive. The homeowner said the police car came within inches of ramming the bedroom where she was sleeping.
The Bay St. Louis Police Department said the officer was headed south on Dunbar in response to a vehicle fire with a trapped person. Authorities said when the officer hit a sharp curve, his cruiser left the road and slammed into the house.
The officer was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released. His name has not been released.
