HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol remembered fellow patrolmen who died in the line of duty. On Sunday, officers laid a wreath at the grave of Bruce Ladner in Harrison County. Ladner died in 1987 after being shot during a traffic stop.

His family members says they are comforted by how the Highway Patrol has continued to honor Ladner for more than 20 years.

"The Mississippi Highway Patrol has been very good throughout the years," said Brandon Ladner, Bruce Ladner's son.

"They don't forget a fallen brother, and it's nice to know that they still love and appreciate my father's service with them and his family."

The Highway patrol also laid wreaths at the graves of four other patrolmen who died in the line of duty.

  • C.J. Reichert - shot to death in 1947
  • William Henry- auto accident in 1967
  • Joseph Pol- auto accident in 1965
  • Paul Denham - an auto accident in 1999
