LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - We now know the identity of the 19-year-old Hancock County man killed in a car crash Saturday morning in Lamar County. Wesley Scott Barrett was a National Guardsman training at Camp Shelby. He was set to deploy overseas.

Investigators are trying to figure out the cause behind the crash that took Barrett's life.

Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel says the accident happened on Deavers Road in the Pistol Ridge Community just southeast of Purvis.

Deputies received a call shortly after 7:00 a.m. about a pickup truck that had crashed into a tree. Barrett was pinned inside. Deputies weren't sure how long Barrett had been dead after arriving on the scene.

Officers say no one else was involved in the accident.
