GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Julie Normand was honored alongside her mother and daughter on this Mother's Day. They represent three generations of mothers.
"What's a better thing to honor than motherhood," Normand said. "She teaches me stuff every day about being a mother."
For Amber Ladner, this Mother's Day was a new experience.
"This is my first mother's day," Ladner said.
She shared her day with family and her 9-month-old Addison.
"It's been very special. She's been a sweet girl today. We've enjoyed our day together," Ladner said.
Not too far from the Ladners, Margarite Jones enjoyed a special dinner with her daughter Gia.
"Since she's living with me, she's company and sort of like a pal. We shop and do a whole lot of things together. It means a lot," Jones said.
"She's always been a wonderful mother, and she's nice to be around," Gia James said.
Like mothers before her, Margarite says a good mother sprinkles in lessons with her love.
"You need to religiously train them and teach them to be caring and loving. When you love, love will cover everything," Jones said.
And it's the love from the women who have help shape our lives that makes Mother's Day well worth the celebration.
