Coast Man Dies In Accident

Officials say at least six people died on roadways in Mississippi during the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend. On Sunday, two people were killed, including 18-year-old Gordon O. Reed of Lucedale. A coroner says Reed died in a single-car accident on a Jackson County road.

In Ridgeland, police say a woman apparently lost control of her vehicle near the Natchez Trace bridge and hit a light pole. The woman's name was being withheld pending notification of kin. Three people were killed on Saturday in the Jackson metropolitan area.

Troopers say a two-vehicle accident in Madison County on Mississippi 16 killed 50-year-oild Willie J. Ellis of Flora and 21-year-old Latorria Johnson of Canton. Police say a one-vehicle accident in Jackson killed 21-year-old Robby Barrett of Jackson. Authorities say Barrett' s car left a bridge and landed near an embankment.

Also killed during the holiday was 30-year-old Steven Jackson of Mount Olive. Authorities say Jackson's vehicle collided with another vehicle on Mississippi 43 in Perry County about 4 p.m. Thursday.
