The Biloxi Knights of Columbus sorted twice as many toys from Saturday's Asgard Motorcycle Club Toy Run as they did last year. Members say they received 1,200 to 1,500 toys.
The gifts were courtesy of the nearly 600 bikers who rolled into Biloxi today bearing Christmas presents for needy children. Organizers of the toy run say the event has become more popular in its 18 years.
"Smokey" of the Asgard Motorcycle Club said, "It's the same spirit each year to give and to share and help those that are less fortunate than ourselves." The bikers weren't the only ones who opened their hearts. Biloxi firefighters took up a collection and presented the money to the Knights of Columbus. The money will be used to create food baskets for the needy.
