GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - John Harral was 19-years-old in 1967 when he bought a 1958 Corvette. That car is considered one of America's great sports cars. Harral still owns the car today and enjoys it as much as he did 42 years ago.

"I can't keep the smile off my face when I'm driving with the top down on a beautiful day," Harral said.

The 58' is recognized as the premier American-made sports car, and Harral has a colorful way of describing the classic automobile.

"It has the lines and sex appeal of Marilyn Monroe and the soul of Aretha Franklin."

The car has been restored on three occasions, most recently after Hurricane Katrina's destructive storm surge.

"Katrina all but destroyed the car. I just got it back after three and a half years."
