BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Imagine moving to a new place and almost immediately your spouse is sent away to war. That is the reality for so many families who dedicate their lives to military service.

At Keesler Air Force Base, there's a club especially for the spouses. They make supporting each other fun and always find ways to give back to the community.

Leanne Ramsay is a member of the Keesler Spouses Club.

"Oh, we have a blast. What we do is each organization on base, the spouses plan the month's event. So each month it's different," Ramsay said.

This month, the Keesler Spouses Club organized a luncheon and fashion show. All the models were military wives who are members of the social group, along with a lone volunteer airman.

"It will be interesting to see who the models are, because this is not their area obviously, modeling," Ramsay said with a giggle.

The new "super models" enjoyed being dressed up and fawned over at Tuesday's event. But this group isn't just about socializing. The Keesler Spouses Club is also a charitable organization that gives back to the community.

"We give out scholarships at the end of the year to graduating high school seniors and military spouses that are going back to school," Ramsay said.

And for many, like Jeanne Newberry, the group is a big part of what lifts her up while her husband is deployed.

"It's great support," Newberry said. "I've gotten so many e-mails from people supporting me while he's away."

Whether it be a fashion show, a dinner party or a health fair, the Keesler Spouses Club supports each other, raises money for local charities and has fun doing it.
