JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A burned out car found in Jackson County Sunday morning has been linked to a murdered Mississippi couple.

Sheriff Mike Byrd said his office received a call Saturday from authorities in Jeff Davis County to be on the lookout for a silver Chevy Lumina. He said deputies found the car about 7 a.m. Sunday at the horse arena in Big Point. The sheriff say the car had been torched.

Authorities in Jeff Davis County say the vehicle belongs to an elderly couple found dead in their home there on Saturday. Officials are releasing few details other than they believe 74-year-old Edward Redd and his wife, 70-year-old Cherilene, were murdered.

The Jeff Davis County sheriff said autopsies will be performed Monday morning.
