GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - David Lavar Anderson's initial appearance in court on murder and aggravated assault charges will be Wednesday morning at 9:00.
The 28-year-old Gulfport man turned himself into authorities Monday night, and was immediately assessed a $2 million bond.
Anderson is the prime suspect in the shooting death of Anthony McCord. Both men were at the Boiler Room lounge Saturday night for the lounge's fifth anniversary celebration.
Investigators say Anderson and McCord had some sort of altercation prior to the party. During the nightclub's celebration, police say Anderson pulled out a gun and fired at McCord. According to the coroner, the 34-year-old died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Anderson is also charged with wounding an innocent bystander inside the nightclub.
On Monday morning, investigators searched a Gulfport home for evidence that could link the suspect to the shooting. They thought Anderson might be there, so Gulfport's tactical unit was dispatched to the 5th Avenue location. The SWAT team entered the house, but didn't find the suspect. An hour later, authorities walked out of the gray, one story home with several bags of potential evidence.
