JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The woman whose Jeep plunged into a ditch off Highway 614 Tuesday afternoon has died. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd identified the victim as Tosha Caudillo, 21, of Helena.
Sheriff Byrd said Caudillo's two young children are still in critical condition at an Alabama Hospital.
Trinity Hotoph, 3, was transferred to USA Medical Center and is expected to recover. The toddler, Jaden Hotoph, whose exact age is unknown, is still in critical condition at Providence Hospital.
The grandmother, Tammy Hotoph made it out of the accident in good condition.
The mother and two children were pulled out of their vehicle and out of the water by a passing motorist. Sheriff Byrd said after the Jeep was pulled from the water, the family's dog was found dead inside.
Sheriff Byrd said his investigators have determined that speed was a factor in the crash. He said the woman's license listed an address in the Helena community, but the tag was from George County.
