BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The kickoff day to Thunder on the Bay did not disappoint. Things got off to a bit a late start due to brake problems with one of the planes, but the crowds of people didn't seem to mind.
They saw the Thunderbirds grace the skies with their jaw-dropping manuevers going from zero to 300 miles per hour in about 5 seconds.
There were even some former Thunderbirds at Saturday's air show. When asked how do you compare what you guys did to what they do now.
"It was like covered wagons when we were there. Like the slogan goes 'Once a Thunderbird, Always a Thunderbird."
"We loved it!" exclaimed one spectator. "The airplanes flying upside down, and they're doing all sorts of tricks."
Another spectator said, "It hurts our ears. It looks like fun, but it's scary, too. It looks dangerous."
Day two of the airshow will kick off Sunday at 9 a.m. For information on where to park and where you catch free CTA shuttles, click HERE.
And we'll be out there tomorrow bringing you more coverage of the events.
