MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - Moss Point school district officials say Orange Lake Elementary will be closed Monday, March 30th due to flooding.

This is the only school in the district closed.

The Mobile Water District opened a flood gate by 10 feet on the Big Creek Lake Saturday. Since then, they have lower the gate to help ease flooding, but overflow is still contributing to flooding in parts of Jackson County.

Also, Highway 614 in Hurley will be closed until the Escatawpa River subsides, and it is safe to travel. The water is over the road at the foot of both sides of the bridge. The Escatawpa River is estimated at 21.3 feet as of 9:30 pm on Sunday.  The river is forecast to crest on Monday morning at 21.8 feet.

Franklin Creek is also seeing increased flooding.  Between five and ten houses have reported flooding to Jackson County Emergency Management.
