Coast Transit Authority hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday morning to dedicate the opening of its new bus stop and comfort station at Jones Park. The $1.2 million facility is the first of four comfort stations set to open in the next few weeks. The Catholic Diocese of Biloxi is celebrating the ground breaking of the new Santa Maria del Mar senior citizen housing complex. It will replace the hurricane damaged high rise on the waterfront in Biloxi. The new complex will be built off Medical Park Drive, and will feature two six story buildings with 106 apartments.More >>

Mississippi Power Company kicked off its annual Renew Our Rivers project Wednesday with a clean-up of Hancock County marshlands. Volunteers and heavy equipment removed lots of storm debris from wetlands in the Ansley community. The marsh in that area is still littered with debris from hurricanes Katrina and Gustav.More >>

Many former employees of the Armed Forces Retirement Home want their jobs back. On Thursday, they expressed their anger at a meeting at the Gulfport facility. The workers lost their jobs when Katrina destroyed the retirement home. They claim they should be rehired, now that the home is about to reopen. The new public safety complex in downtown Gulfport is nearing completion. The Robert J. Curry Public Safety Center is a $22 million project that will house both the police department and municipal court.
