Biloxi Woman Needs A Roof & Ramp For Christmas

Nellie Hargrove has two items on her Christmas wish list, a roof and a ramp. Katrina left Hargrove's roof badly damaged. 

"I have leakage in the front room, my bedroom, my daughter's bedroom and the hallway.  I need a roof over my head I can depend on," Hargrove said.

Last week, part of her bedroom ceiling fell in on her. Hargrove lives with her 40-year-old daughter who has epilepsy and mental disabilities. She fears what affect the mold coving her ceiling could have on her daughter. 

"I don't want her to get sick because of her seizures," Hargrove said.  

Hargrove had no insurance and lives off social security. Nellie's son, Barney Hargrove, moved in to help her. But he says, with his minimum wage job, it's hard making ends meet. 

"It's hard, after I take care of my obligations, I only got a little bit left. I try to help her as much as I can around here," he said. 

Taking care of his mother is a promise Barney made to his dad shortly before he died. 

"He asked me to take care of her, and I promised I would as best as I can."

Hargrove needs help from her son and daughter because she can't walk. She has no feeling in her legs from the knees down. And she can't get out of the house without someone's help because she has no ramp from her porch to the ground. That's why she says a ramp would be a big help.

But, despite her problems, Hargrove still thinks of others and has faith she'll be taken care of.

"There's others that need it more than me. God will take care of all of us in his own way, just gotta have faith."
