Jeff Lawson has been one half of WLOX's primary anchor team for 19 years. That kind of longevity is rare in the broadcasting field.
Jeff started his television broadcasting career in the late 70s at WJBF-TV in Augusta, Georgia where he held down the anchor chair for the evening news. In 1983 Jeff took an anchor job with the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) where he was seen nationally each night.
After a stint covering national issues, Jeff decided it was time for a change. The next thing you know he was co-anchoring the 6:00 & 10:00 p.m. newscasts for WLOX. "I enjoy working on the coast," says Jeff. "It's interesting and challenging. When you're in this line of work, every day is different. That's what I like."
Jeff grew up in Pittsburgh but loves the people and the weather in South Mississippi. When he's not on the air, you might run into him playing golf with his WLOX pals David Elliott , Brad Kessie, and Doug Walker. Jeff says he usually wins, but we'll get a second source confirmation on that and get back with you!
Jeff is married to the former Alice O'Connell of Long Beach. They live in Biloxi.
