OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Ocean Springs Police are hoping to generate some hot leads for a cold case by releasing surveillance video. The video shows Michael Surber, a nationally-recognized billiards player, at Skeeter's Billiards in Gulfport in the hours leading up to his death. Surber was found dead in his Ocean Springs home about a year ago.

In one of the clips, Surber is seen wearing a white polo shirt walking out of Skeeter's. He's followed out by a man wearing a long-sleeve blue shirt.  Police say the suspect is the last person Surber was seen with alive and likely the man responsible for his death.

"The video offers a better look at what the suspect looks like.  What we've done is we've used technology to clean up the video and make it more clear," said Lieutenant John Flowers of the Ocean Springs Police Department.

Early on in the case, police released still images to the public. They say the newly-released video has been cleaned up, offering clearer images. The video, shows multiple images of the two, from different angles and places within the billiards establishment.

The video is also posted to YouTube. Police are looking to the exposure on the web and across media outlets to motivate someone to come forward.

"When they look at the video, they can see the way the suspect walks, you'll be able to see the way he carries himself and hopefully it will be more of an identifier than the still photos," Lt. Flowers said.

The man has been described by police as being in his late 40s to mid 50s and about six-feet tall.  They traced the man to a town in Georgia, but found he was using an alias.  That lead turned up little information.

Now, police are looking to this video to give someone the clarity he or she needs to help close the cold case.

Lt. Flowers said family and friends have offered unending support in trying to solve the case. The family is working to establish a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder.
