VENICE, LA (WLOX) - President Barack Obama will visit the Gulf Coast later today. He's going to Louisiana to assess the damage and the response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
It's a spill scientists are now calling the worst in U.S. history, with estimates of anywhere from 19 million to 39 million gallons of oil having leaked from the oil well since the rig exploded April 20th.
Thursday President Obama insisted that his administration has responded aggressively to the oil spill from the start. He said that all decisions concerning the spill go through the White House. Obama said his administration is in charge of the response to the leak, not BP.
Today will mark the second time President Obama will visit the region since the explosion. Hear what he had to say in Louisiana about the spill later today on wlox.com and WLOX News.
