VANCLEAVE, MS (WLOX) - One person is dead after a two car collision on Jim Ramsey Road Saturday evening. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd told WLOX the deceased victim of the crash is Daniel Bolton.

Bolton was a 31 year old Vancleave resident and was a passenger in a red Dodge Neon driven by 19 year old Britney Danielle Pierce, also of Vancleave.  She was airlifted to USA Medical Center's trauma center, where she's listed in critical but stable condition.  Byrd said alcohol was found in the vehicle, and alcohol or drugs are suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.

The other car, a black Taurus, was driven by 55 year old Vancleave resident, Rhonda Griffin. Griffin's niece called to tell WLOX that she is at the Ocean Springs Hospital and has a broken pelvis. WLOX has placed calls to Ocean Springs Hospital, but has not received word on Griffin's condition.

Byrd said the Dodge Neon was headed east and went into the westbound lane and hit the Taurus head on.

The crash occurred less than one mile west of Highway 57. Jim Ramsey Road was closed for about two hours Saturday night.
