MATHEWS, La. (AP) - Officials in Lafourche Parish say a small fire in a school chemistry lab sent four school employees to a hospital, but nobody was seriously hurt.
Lafourche School Board spokesman Floyd Benoit said no students were injured in the Monday incident at Central Lafourche High School.
The fire happened as a teacher was mixing chemicals. The teacher suffered minor burns on her neck and arm, according to a report in The Daily Comet of Thibodaux. Lockport Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Dufrene said three janitors who helped put out the fire went to the hospital as a precaution after complaining of mild respiratory problems caused by fire-extinguisher fumes.
