GORDO, Ala. (AP) - Police believe a Gordo man found dead in a wrecked vehicle this weekend was the victim of an accidental gunshot wound.
Police Chief Todd Hall said motorists found 32-year-old Shane Matthew Tucker in his white sport utility vehicle with its engine still running in a ditch Saturday.
Hall said Tucker was dead when police arrived just after 4 p.m. Saturday.
Medical examiners found a single gunshot wound in Tucker's leg, but he said there is no evidence of foul play.
Investigators believe Tucker accidentally discharged a small caliber pistol at his home, then tried to drive to Pickens County Medical Center in Carrollton.
Hall believes the full autopsy report will confirm that Tucker died of an accidental gunshot.
