PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The state inmate who escaped from the Pearl River County Jail Sunday has been captured. Monday night, U.S. Marshals arrested Waylon Lee Strickland at a motel in Alexander City, Alabama.
Strickland was serving a three year sentence from Greene County for Possession of Precursors and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Investigators say he walked away from his work detail Sunday afternoon at the jail.
The investigation into his escape led authorities to Montgomery, where Strickland once lived. He now faces felony escape charges upon his return to Mississippi.
