Jury selection continues Tuesday in Moss Point teen's murder trial

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Jury selection in the murder trial of a Moss Point teen went well into Monday evening, and is set to continue Tuesday. 

Sixteen-year-old Darwin Wells is charged with capital murder in the slaying of a Lamar County man at a gas station on Highway 63 last October.  Forty-four-year-old Michael David Porter had stopped to ask for directions to a football game when he was shot.  His wife, Linda was in the car with him.

Due to heavy media coverage of Porter's death, most of the potential jurors are being questioned individually about what they know about the case.  Because Wells is a minor, he will face a maximum penalty of life in prison if he's convicted. 

Two other teens are charged with capital murder in this case.  They are Terry Hye, Jr. and Telvin James Benjamin, both from Moss Point.  Alonzo Kelly, also a minor, faces a charge of accessory after the fact to murder. 

Two adults, Melody Jones and Faith Gibson are also charged with accessory after the fact.  Their trial dates have not been set.
