Father and son arrested for pot brownies

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Agents from the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County and Sheriffs Deputies served a search warrant in the Gulf Hills neighborhood of the St. Martin community Tuesday evening. The residence in question was located at 13901 East El Bonito Drive.

Poilce arrested 62-year-old Jerry Wayne Witham at his residence. Witham's 27-year-old son, Morgan Wayne Witham, turned himself into authorities on Wednesday.

Agents found over 20 pounds of marijuana which was scattered throughout the house during their search. Over forty sandwich baggies containing ¼ to ½ ounce of marijuana in each bag were recovered. 

Larger quantities of marijuana in what is commonly referred to as "bricks" were also found.  The bricks ranged in weight from one to ten pounds. During their search, agents also located over twenty homemade brownies in one freezer where some of the marijuana was found. 

Further investigation of the brownies revealed they also contained a mixture of marijuana and pecans. The brownies were packaged in ten separate baggies. Quantities in the baggies ranged from one to three as if they also had been packaged for sale.

The father, Jerry Wayne Witham, faces one count of possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm. 

The son, Morgan Wayne Witham, faces one count of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

If convicted, the son faces a prison term of up to 30 years and $1 million in fines.While the father could receive a prison term of up to 60 years and $2 million in fines because he possessed a firearm.
