THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - An Assumption Parish woman lost her left arm in a weekend traffic accident, according to state police.
State police say Peggy Worley was traveling at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her 1996 Honda Accord in a curve on Louisiana Highway 308 in Paincourtville (PAYNE ker ville) on Friday night.
Troop C spokesman Gilbert Dardar said Worley, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car when it struck a culvert and flipped several times. Worley's left arm was severed at the shoulder.
Worley was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Hospital in Baton Rouge.
