CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - In an emergency time wasted searching for an address could mean the difference between life and death say local emergency officials.
Alcorn County Emergency Services Coordinator Ricky Gibens said responders continue to have problems with road signs being damaged or defaced.
Gibens said the problem is more prevalent in rural areas of the county and, while not an epidemic, is a serious issue for responders.
When the signs are damaged or covered in graffiti and cannot be read, responders can spend valuable time searching for a road or address, delaying the arrival of lifesaving help.
