The state of Mississippi is stepping in to help victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking who have relocated to escape their abuser. Victims can now seek a substitute address from the Mississippi Attorney General's Address Confidentiality Program.

Gulfport gives away trees

The Mississippi Land Trust and the City of Gulfport are giving away thousands of trees on Saturday, in celebration of Earth Day and National Arbor Day. Residents are allowed up to 10 trees per person and must complete and return a landowner agreement form before Friday.

Jackson County hazardous waste collection day set for Saturday

Jackson County is holding a hazardous waste collection day, on Saturday, April 18.  The event will go from 8 a.m. until noon.  Anyone wanting to let go of some of their hazardous waste can drop it off with county officials in the parking lot of Singing River Mall.

The government has a warning for the owners of recalled Ford vehicles. About 4.6 million Ford vehicles still need to be brought in to dealer ships so mechanics can disconnect the faulty cruise control systems that have been linked to engine fires. Nearly 10 million Ford vehicles were recalled in all. There have been about 60 complaints of engine fires in Ford vehicles since August 2007.
