With ten games scheduled across the Coast tomorrow, Friday served as somewhat of an appetizer for the second round of the 2019 MHSAA High School Soccer Playoffs. But, if the results for three of our area teams are any indication, fans will be coming back for more.
Hosting a Franklin County squad that had just one loss to their name all season, the St. Patrick Lady Irish broke the ice on the scoreboard in the 20th minute and didn’t look back, storming out to a 3-0 lead before defeating the Lady Bulldogs 3-1 and advancing to the Class 1A/2A/3A South State Championship Game.
Hosting a boys/girls playoff doubleheader for the second time this week, Long Beach once again took care of business. The Lady Bearcats shutout South Jones 1-0. while the boys squad bested West Jones 2-1, as both teams advance to the Class 5A South State Championships.
The Poplarville boys team didn’t have the same luck, falling to Richland 2-1 at home as their season comes to an end.
