BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -Our up and down temperature roller coaster continues this week for South Mississippi. After a cold start on Monday, clouds and moisture have returned on Tuesday ahead of our next cold front.
Temperatures are expected to warm back up into the upper 60s to low 70s for some Tuesday and Wednesday, but don’t get used to that.
Another strong arctic front is expected to arrive on Wednesday. Model guidance suggests Wednesday may start off warm, but temperatures will quickly tumble by the evening.
Ahead of this front, rain and a few thunderstorms are likely. We may also see some heavy downpours on Wednesday afternoon. Rainfall amounts could reach near an inch. There are some hints that there may be just enough cold air and moisture for brief transition to a wintry mix over central and northern Mississippi, but it looks like it will remain all rain for South Mississippi.
Low temperatures for the rest of the week on the coast will be in the 30s and 40s. Near freezing temperatures will be the most likely for areas north of I-10.
