MLK celebration kicks off holiday weekend

Bay St. Louis church members celebrate the life of Dr. King

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - Members of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis got together Friday to break bread and celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

Those who attended the event said it was a great way to start the MLK holiday weekend.

The Rev. Allen Jenkins shared quotes from King and other civil rights pioneers during the service.

“The words ‘Until justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream’ are attributed to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” Allen said. “No, we are not satisfied until justice rolls down like mighty waters, and righteousness comes down like a mighty stream. ‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice anywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of dignity,’"
