LUCEDALE, MS (WLOX) - It’s a coffee house with a purpose, and that purpose to raise awareness for our military veterans. Savanna Webb and her husband, Jonathan, opened the Lucedale Coffee House Wednesday.
For this tour of duty, Savanna and her sister, Kaysha, brewed up every cappuccino and espresso with the military in mind.
“My husband was a veteran; he was in the Marines and he served in Iraq. We both love coffee, and we want to support our veterans,” Webb said. “We decided to open up a coffee shop and make it an all military theme, an American theme."
The five tables in the seating area bear the seals of all five branches of the military.
Cammie Byrd and her crew from the George County Chancery Clerk's office brought Savannah a star-spangled opening-day gift and sampled some lattes.
“It's always good to support our veterans. I don't think our vets get what they deserve,” Byrd said.
Savanna and Jonathan hope a wall that bears the five flags of the branches of the military will soon also have pictures of military veterans.
Jon was out of town working on opening day, but Savanna said he was there in spirit, the same way this coffee shop celebrates the military spirit.
“We are trying to get everybody we can to bring in a picture of veterans that they have of family or friends,” Webb said.
The Lucedale Coffee House is located on Mississippi Highway 26 and open from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
