GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) - Business owners are seeing potential and opening up shop in Gautier. Exactly one week in and Gary Tran with EVapes said business is good.
“We have one of the largest juice selections of premium,” he said. “It helps a lot of people out.”
EVapes' Gautier location is a first for the city.
“We picked this location due to it’s behind McDonald’s drive thru. A lot of people go into Dirt Cheap, so it’s a lot of foot traffic,” Tran said.
EVapes isn’t new to the market. More than a handful of shops are open across South Mississippi with more coming.
“We have two more shops coming soon, one in Pascagoula and one in D’Iberville," Tran added.
Also coming to Gautier is Burrito Zone.
“We are in the final steps to order all the equipment so we can open by Feb. 1," said owner Jesus Arellano. He said it’s a family business and he wouldn’t open shop anywhere else.
“I used to have La Fiesta Brava at Singing River Mall for 18 years, so this is my hometown,” Arellano said.
He was hard at work Saturday putting the final touches on his new business venture. It’s the second Burrito Zone, and Arellano said he chose Gautier and the U.S. Highway 90 location because it’s close to two big landmarks.
“Try to get some business from Ingalls and of course the college, kids from the college because they love burritos,” he said. “Pretty soon we want to have the best burritos in town here in Gautier.”
Arellano’s advice: Eat local.
“One hundred percent it’s a family business. Local family business,” he said.
New construction lines Highway 90, as well as for sale and for lease signs that show the Gautier market is ready to expand.
