GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The City of Gulfport announced that it is hiring dispatchers to help operations within the police and fire departments.
Gulfport put out a job listing this week to fill the paid, full-time positions. The listing calls for people who are organized and can provide accurate and timely information.
When you call, you need to know that the person that’s picking up that phone is able to get the message through to those who are responding.
Community Relations Specialist Tiffany Neves described a day in the life of a dispatcher.
“On the job you have to go from taking a phone call to operating the radio, to running information. There’s so many different things; there’s so many different alerts in the room," she said.
Gulfport Police welcomes anyone interested in becoming a dispatcher to spend a day in the center to gain first-hand experience.
