KANSAS CITY, MO (WLBT) - Former Mississippi State standout Chris Jones matched an NFL record Thursday night by notching a sack in his 10th straight game.
Jones, a defensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, sacked Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers in the 2nd quarter, joining former Dallas Cowboy Demarcus Ware and former Denver Bronco Simon Fletcher as the only players to ever record a sack in 10 straight games. However, both Ware’s and Fletcher’s streaks occurred over two seasons. Jones had already set the single-season NFL record with a sack in a ninth straight game Sunday.
Jones would be credited with 2.5 sacks in the Chiefs' loss to the Chargers, bringing his season total to 14.
